God’s Fallen are a dark, moody, and ever-changing hardcore/progressive act from Long Island, New York. Their sound can best be described as the love child as a result of a threesome between Deftones, Between the Buried and Me and Norma Jean. Formed in the late summer of 2007 by guitarist Chris Petchonka, drummer Eric Rucker, vocalist Frank Balsamo and bassist Eric Lichtenberger they quickly began work on the album which would become “Blackheart”.

After checking out several area studios the members of God’s Fallen decided to record with Anthony Vero (engineer and producer for Hopesfall’s “A Types”, engineer for As Tall As Lions’ self-titled album). Anthony was operating out of a small home-made studio above a garage and yet had some of the best sounding examples of work out of most of the big budget studios they had visited. And with their relatively small budget, the price couldn’t be beat.

Upon entering the studio in February of 2008 they decided to go all out and pull all the stops with “Blackheart”. From the very start it was decided that as much time and money that was needed to be spent would be given up to create as perfect an album as possible.

Recording wrapped up around the end of September of 2008 and pushed the planned release date back to November. But being that all of the guys in God’s Fallen were flat broke after recording, mixing and mastering the album, they decided to push the date even further back to January of 2009.

Soon after the rollercoaster of hope had seemed to come to a standstill, Sean Bell of Last Resort Records (Sown in Tears, Tension, Without Remorse) stepped in after hearing the rough tracks and decided to sign God’s Fallen and put the album out on his label. The guys rejoiced and were jolly once again.

With the album complete, a close friend of the band, David Luna (www.myspace.com/lunagrafx), undertook the task of creating the artwork and full layout for “Blackheart”. His vision matched that of the band and the result was everything they had hoped it would be.

With the support of Last Resort Records and countless others, “Blackheart” was finally released in March of 2009. Best described as dark, intense, moody, beautiful, heavy and inspirational, it promises to capture the band’s live sound and give you a taste of what they’re capable of.

Now that the recording journey is complete, God’s Fallen hope to continue doing what they love and keep bringing music into an otherwise doomed world…..in an uplifting sort of way.
